We see Sayid in Santo Domingo working for the organization Build Our World. We first saw Sayid working here prior to this scene when Locke visited him. This time, Sayid is visited by Ben who tells him that Locke is dead and that he thinks he was murdered. We see Ben manipulating Sayid, because we know that Ben killed Locke. Ben tells Sayid that there is a man sitting in a car outside of Santa Rosa Mental Heath Institute watching Hurley. Ben wants Sayid to kill him and seems surprised when Sayid does not seem interested. Ben tells him that he's capable of things most men aren't. He continues saying "Every choice you've made in you life whether it was to murder or torture, it hasn't really been a choice at all, has it?" He continues and says "You're a killer Sayid." Sayid looks incredibly angry yet calmly responds "I'm not what you think I am. I don't like killing." Ben apologizes and leaves.
So this scene spells out the theme of the episode which asks "Is Sayid a killer by nature or by necessity?" It's a question without a clear answer.
