As Miles and Hurley are driving through the jungle towards the Orchid, Hurley is writing in a notebook with a Dharma education or school logo on it. Hurley asks Miles how to spell "bounty hunter" and Miles asks if he's writing his memoirs. Hurley tells him that is private. In the van they are listening to the Albert Hammond song "It Never Rains in Southern California" that can be found on the album of the same name.
Hurley asks miles if he farted with out actually saying the word "fart." Miles says no and Hurley makes him stop the van so he can make sure the food hasn't gone bad. As Hurley's checking the coolers, he finds the body bag in the back of the van. Hurley asks Miles who is in the bag and what happened. Miles tells him that the man's name was Alverez and he was digging a hole and thinking about a chick named Andrea. Then he felt a sharp pain in his mouth which turned out to be a filling being pulled out of a tooth which went through his brain which killed him. Hurley asks Miles how he knows what happened and what Alverez was thinking. Miles avoids the subject until Hurley calls him out saying "You can talk to dead people." Hurley tells him that his secret is safe with him because he can talk to dead people too. This seems to intrigue Miles.
