Ben shoots Caesar, he and Locke take a canoe

Ben and Locke uncover one of the canoes so they can go to the main island. There are only supposed to be two left after Sun and Frank took one, but there is clearly three in the first shot. This seems like a mistake by the set designers.

As they are uncovering one of the canoes, Caesar and three other guys come up asks what they're doing. Locke says they're taking one of the canoes to the main island. Caesar says "I don' think so my friend." Locke asks him if they're his boats and Caesar replies "Are they yours?" Locke tells Caesar that the boats were found there so he's just going to borrow one and he'll leave the other one if they want to follow them. Caesar asks Ben if he's going and Ben says that he wasn't given a choice. Caesar says he's calling the shots and they cannot take a a canoe. He says that Locke needs to sit down and tell him how he knows so much about the island adding a "My friend" at the end. Locke says that Caesar's in the habit of calling people friend, but he doesn't really mean it. Locke tells him that they're taking the boat and Caesar is going to let them. Caesar reaches for the gun in his bag but it's not there. Ben pulls it out and shoot Caesar in the chest. He turns to the other guys with Caesar and says that he and Locke are taking a boat and asks "Does anyone else have a problem with that?" They all back away and shake their heads indicating "no." Ben tosses the gun to Locke and says "Consider that my apology."

So is that the end of Caesar? Did the producers introduce this new character in multiple episodes just to be shot? There's always a good chance that Caesar will turn up in flashbacks when we learn more about the other people on Ajira 316.

Ilana and Bram moving a crate, Ben talks to Caesar about Locke

On the beach of the Hydra island, there is a wide shot of the beach with the Ajira 316 plane still visible in the background. Ilana, Bram and some others are around a large, silver crate. Ben asks Ilana what it is and she just says it's "Some stuff we need to get moved." Ben asks if they need a hand and Bram says that they've got it.

Ben grabs an Ajira water bottle from a suitcase as Caesar approaches him to ask how he is feeling. Ben just says it feels like somebody hit him with a oar. Caesar asks Ben what he thinks of Locke who is standing at the edge of the water behind them. Ben asks Caesar what Locke told him. Caesar says that Locke was watching over Ben while he was unconscious and that Locke says that Ben killed him. Ben just laughs and plays it off saying "He looks fine to me." Ben then says that he doesn't remember Locke from the plane and asks Caesar "Do you?" Caesar says no and Ben says "What if he was here before we crashed." He continues saying "We may be dealing with a man who is dangerously deranged" and then asks the question "What are we going to do about it?" Caesar tells Ben not to worry and shows him the gun he took from the Hydra office. Caesar says "I've got your back." Caesar extends his hand and introduces himself and Ben does the same.

It seemed here that Ben was trying to betray Locke once again but it appears that he was making Caesar paranoid in order to find out what he knows and what his plans are. Clever, clever Ben.

Frank lies about the island, Ben and Sun sneak off, meet Bram

Sun is standing on the beach, looking at Jin's wedding ring. We can see the Ajira plane sitting not too far from the beach. Ilana comes over and asks if Sun lost someone on the flight, which she did not. Frank calls everyone to attention to tell them his plan that they should stay on the beach and wait for rescue. During the speech, we see a new character named Bram (6th photo) who doesn't speak in this episode, but is played by a recognizable actors, so will become active at some point. Caesar pipes in asking Frank "Where is here?" Frank tells him that he doesn't know and that the island is not on his charts. Caesar goes on to mention the buildings on the island, the animal cages and the bigger island and says that Frank needs some new charts. Caesar tells everyone that they should search the buildings for a radio or food.

At this point Ben, who is by the treeline, slips off into the jungle and Sun follows him. Frank sees Sun leave and follows her. Sun loses Ben briefly until he shows up behind her and asks "Why are you following me?" Sun asks him where he is going and he replies "Back to our island. You wanna come?"

So Caesar and Ilana are starting to become Nikki and Paulo a little bit. They are not quite as annoying, but they have been around for a few weeks now and haven't served much of a purpose, though it is possible that they shot at the canoes in "The Little Prince" (see screens here). And now we have Bram who hasn't even spoken yet. Hopefully, they'll serve a purpose soon.

Sayid disappears from Ajira 316, Sun is left behind

As Frank stumbles out of the cockpit into the cabin, Caesar is seeing if Ilana is okay. Ilana looks panicked when she notices Sayid is gone. He disappeared from the plane with Jack, Kate and Hurley. It turns out that Sun is still there though. She and Frank wonder where the others have gone when Ben pops in a says in his creepiest voice "They're gone." When Frank asks him where they've gone, Been says "How would I know?" I'm guessing he has at least some idea of where they could be.

Since Sayid was flashed into 1977 with the others and Sun was left behind, does this mean that she wasn't supposed to come back? Or, does this mean that her path to helping the island is in the present?

Caesar takes Locke to the injured survivors, Ben among them

Back to the "present time" where Locke is resurrected on the island, we see Caesar thumbing through some files in the Hydra Station. Locke walks into the office and tells Caesar a little about the Dharma Initiative and that he spent over 100 days on the island. Caesar tells John that when the plane experienced turbulence, Hurley disappeared and some other passengers saw other people just disappear. Locke asks for a passenger list but Caesar says that Frank took it. Caesar says that everyone is accounted for except the people who disappeared and the people who got hurt. He then takes Locke to where the injured people are. Locke spots Ben on one of the cots and tells Caesar "He's the man who killed me."

Since Ben is here and not where the other people who disappeared from the plane are, should we assume that he wasn't supposed to go back to the island? Also, we seem to learn a little bit, very little, about how Hurley, Kate and Jack ended up so far away from where the plane crashed. There's still much more to learn though.

John Locke is alive on Hydra island, flight 316 is intact

As Ilana takes Caesar to the man (John Locke) that was found standing in the water, they walk past the flight 316 airplane. In the overhead shot, it appears that the plane is intact. Frank must be a damn good pilot.

When the get to the campsite, the other survivors of the crash are standing around a fire staring at a man with an Ajira Airways blanket over his head. Caesar bends down in front of Locke and introduces himself and asks for his name. Locke pulls the blanket from his head and simply says "My name is John Locke."

This was a simple scene but very powerful. How did the plane land on the Hydra island intact? How did Locke end up out of the coffin when he was resurrected?
