As they continue to walk through the jungle, Locke again asks Sawyer who he saw, saying that they are the only two who know when they were before the last flash. Sawyer turns it on him and asks about the light from the hatch. When Sawyer asks Locke why he didn't want to back and warn himself about what was going to happen, Locke says he needed to experience the pain to get where he is now.
Locke's decision to avoid himself in the past presents an interesting question. What would happen if Locke did approach himself in the past? Would the results be catastrophic like in other time travel tales?
