Flight 316 hits turbulence, bright light hits plane

As the turbulence on the plane begins the seat belt light comes on. Everyone is nervous and Hurley leans over to Caesar and tells him "You might want to fasten your seat belt. He then pulls a mask over his eyes and leans back. Bags begin falling out of the overhead compartments and some of the items almost hit Caesar. Rupa, the flight attendant gets thrown around cabin and then a bright light begins to shine, much like when the time skipped on the island. The next thing we see is Jack waking up on the island (the first scene of the episode).

So what exactly happened between the bright light and Jack, Kate and Hurley being back on the island?
