Ellie and the natives/others capture Daniel, Charlotte and Miles

After the mine explosion, a team of island natives/others led by Ellie capture Daniel Faraday, Charlotte Lewis and Miles Straume. When Ellie asks who's in charge, Miles fingers Daniel. She then tells Daniel "You just couldn't stay away could you?"

So have Daniel and Ellie met before? Does she say that thinking he is with the US military? Is it possible we've seen Ellie before? That's all I'll say for now.
