Jin sees photos of Ji Yeon for the first time

At the building housing Room 23 on Hydra Island, Charles Widmore admonishes Zoe for not following the timeline of their plan and taking Jin too soon. She replies that she should have put a mercenary in charge then instead of a geophysicist. He then asks her to go get "the package" from the submarine and take it to the infirmary.

Widmore apologizes to Jin for taking him from the other island. He then gives Jin a digital camera that he says they found on the Ajira plane in Sun's luggage. Jin looks through the pictures on the camera which are of his daughter Ji Yeon with Sun. He has never seen his daughter before this moment, so he's obviously quite emotional. Widmore tells Jin that he has a daughter to and he knows what it's like to be kept apart from her.

Widmore explains to Jin that if the thing that looks like John Locke is allowed to leave the island, that everyone that they care about will cease to be. He asks Jin to come with him so he can show him "the package," which is a who, not a thing.

Ben finds Sun and Frank in his house, learns the others are in 1977

Locke and Ben arrive back at the barracks. Locke asks Ben if it was his idea to move the others into the barracks after the Dharma folk were killed. Ben asks "Do you disapprove John?" Locke says "It just doesn't seem like something the island would want." Ben replies "You don't have the first idea what this island wants." Locke says "Are you sure about that?" Ben seems to be growing increasingly worried that Locke is starting to understand the island better than him.

At that moment, a light comes on in Alex's room in Ben's old house. A figure walks past the window. Locke tells Ben that he should go check it out. Inside the house, things are all over the floor, the bookshelf is in disarray and the game of Risk that Locke, Sawyer and Hurley were playing last season is still as the left it. Ben goes down the hall towards Alex's room and sees a shadow pass under the door. Ben quickly opens the door and scares Sun. Frank rushes in from another room. Ben asks what they are doing in his old house and Frank picks up the Dharma Initiative new recruit photo from 1977. Ben looks at it and is stunned that Jack, Hurley and Kate were part of the Dharma Initiative. Sun seems surprised that Ben doesn't already know this and he claims he does not. Ben asks where they got the photo and Frank tells him that they met a crazy old man outside. Sun says his name was Christian and Ben's face immeidately reacts to the name. Sun says Christian told them to come inside and wait for John Locke. Frank says "Considering he's dead, we ain't holding our breathe." Ben tells them to look outside. Sun and Frank go to the window and see Locke who waves at them.

So how exactly is Locke supposed to help Sun reunite with Jin who is 30 years in the past? Have the buildings the barracks really not been touched since December 2004? Did the others never come back there or did something happen to them? We haven't seen the others yet in 2007.

Ben tells Locke why he killed him, Locke to help Ben be judged

We see Ben in the Hydra Station office rummaging through the desk. He finds a picture of he and Alex and takes it from the frame. Locke walks in at that moment and asks what he has there. Ben says that it's just something sentimental. Locke moves around the desk and says "I never pictured you leading your people from behind a desk. It seems a little, corporate." Locke sits at the desk, leans back and puts his foot up confidently. Ben asks him if there's something that he needed. Locke tells him he wants to talk about "The elephant in the room." Ben says he assumes that means the fact that he killed him. Ben says that killing Locke was the only way to get him back to the island along with as many of the others as possible. Ben reminds Locke that he failed to get the others to come back. Ben continues saying that the only way to get them back was for Locke to die and that Locke realized this which is why he was about to kill himself. Locke asks hBenim why he stopped him if all he had to do was die. Ben says that Locke had critical information that he need and once he had it, it was just easier to kill him rather than convince him to hang himself again. Ben says "Look at you John, I was write." He says that Locke and the others are back though he doesn't know where they are yet. Ben says he did it all because "It was in the best interest of the island." Locke says "I was just hoping for an apology. Locke then says that he's decided to help Ben be judged. Locke says that if everything Ben has done has been in the best interest of the island, then I'm sure the monster will understand." Locke pauses, then says "Let's go."

So after death, John Locke seems to have finally found his confidence. He's got his jacket on, he looks professional and he's calling the shots. He's not letting Ben push him around anymore. Ben is obvsiously uncomfortable with this power shift.

Michael's apartment + photo of him and Walt

Here's Michael's apartment in New York after he leaves the island. It's a bit of a wreck, but as we saw in the episode, life isn't going too well for him. Also, I've included the picture of Michael and Walt that we see a number of times throughout the episode. Walt's still a baby in the picture.

Miles' photo of Ben

So these newcomers are on the island to find or take or kill Ben? Here's the photo that Miles has. When was this taken, where was it taken and where did it come from? These are the key questions.
