Daniel goes to the Orchid to convince Pierre Chang to evacuate the island, more journal pages

Daniel and Miles are sitting in front of the Orchid station construction site as Daniel looks through his journal. Pierre Chang arrives in one of the vans and Daniel says "Right on time." Daniel heads towards the Orchid after Pierre goes in.

As Daniel is on the elevator going underground, he is reading his journal (you can see some enhanced shots of the journal pages below). Once he reaches the underground Orchid station, it becomes clear that we are seeing Daniel's point of view of the opening scene of season 5 (see the screens here). He bumps into Pierre Chang and goes to where the workers had been drilling.

Daniel runs back through the tunnel to talk to Pierre and he reminds him that they met three years ago when he arrived at the barracks with LaFleur (Sawyer). Daniel tells Pierre to order the evacuation of every man, woman and child on the island. He continues saying that the drilling at the Orchid unleashed some electromagnetism. Pierre tells him that it's now contained. Daniel says that it's contained there, but in about six hours at the Swan station site, that the same thing is going to happen and the energy there is about 30,000 times more powerful. He says the accident is going to be catastrophic. Pierre asks what qualifies Daniel to make such a prediction. Daniel tells him "I'm from the future."

Outside of the station, Daniel is still trying to convince Pierre to do what he says, but Pierre thinks that Daniel is just mocking him because he overheard him mention time travel. Daniel asks Pierre to look at his journal where there are equations that won't be written for another 20 years. Miles who overheard the mention of Daniel being from the future comes over and tells Pierre that he thinks Daniel had too many drugs on the submarine trip. Daniel interrupts and tells Pierre that Miles is his son. Daniel points out that a Chinese man named Miles shows up with him from the future and asks if he really thinks it's a coincidence. Pierre asks Miles if what Daniel says is true and Miles denies that it is. Pierre then tells Daniel to stay away from him.

Miles pulls Daniel away and asks him what he's doing. Daniel says that he's just making sure that Pierre is doing what he is supposed to do. Miles asks what that is and Daniel just says "You'll see."

So Daniel seems to be on a path to make sure that the island is evacuated before "the incident" occurs and he's willing to play every card he has to make sure that it happens. Also, is the pocket of energy below the Swan the same type of energy that is below the Orchid? If so, is there some ancient ruins or something similar to the donkey wheel below the Swan site? It would seem that Pierre might actually believe some of what Daniel was saying. If one person would believe that Daniel and Miles could be from the future, it would be Pierre.

Hurley pushes Miles to talk about his father

Back at the Orchid, Hurley pushes Miles to talk about his father, Pierre Chang. Hurley says "How weird is it that your dad is that dude from all those movies?" He asks Miles is Marvin Candle was Pierre's stage name. Miles eventually gives in and tells Hurley that on the third day he was living with Dharma Initiative, he was in line at the cafeteria and his mother got in line behind him. That was when he figured out that Pierre Chang was his father. Hurley asks Miles if he thinks he should save the Dharma folk since they're going to die. Miles says that he can't save them and they're going to die no matter what.

Pierre Chang comes over and tells Miles to drive him to Radzinsky at the Swan work site. Pierre warns Hurley again to not say a word and Hurley says "Polar bear poop. Got it." Miles asks Pierre what happened to Alverez's body and Pierre says "What body?"

This is the second time that Hurley has recommended saving the Dharma Initiative from being killed by Ben in the purge. Hurley's humanity is a driving force in the show because he always wants to help anyone he can.

Miles tells Hurley that Pierre Chang is his father, about his power

Back in the Dharma van, Hurley and Miles are listening to "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tennille which can be found on the Ultimate Collection. Hurley is still trying to get Miles to talk about his ability. Hurley tells him "I talk to lots of dead people." Miles turns it around and question Hurley asking if he sees and has conversations with dead people. Hurley says that he does and even plays chess with them sometimes. Miles says "That's not how it works" and Hurley says "a-ha!" because he got Miles to admit that he knows about talking to the dead. Miles describes what he does a feeling or a sense. He says that when someone dies, their brain stops working and he says there's no more talking and the brain only contains what it knew before the person died. Hurley hits back saying that his way works for him and that Miles is just jealous his power is better than Miles'.

The van pulls up to the Orchid Sation which is under construction. Miles looks over at Pierre Chang who is walking through the site where workers are working. Hurley and Miles pull the coolers out as Pierre walks over. Pierre asks what Hurley is doing there and tells Miles that he was supposed to come alone. Hurley says that he won't tell anyone about the body and that he can keep a secret. Pierre tells him that he'd better or he'll be reassigned to the Hydra island where he'll have to clean up polar bear feces behind the "ridiculous experiments." Pierre calls to guys to come take the body and tells Miles to stay there until he gets back. Hurley tells Miles that Pierre is "a total douche." Miles says "That douche is my dad."

So in this scene we learn a little more about Miles' ability and how it works, but still nothing about how he aquired it. But we do finally get confirmation that Pierre Chang is Miles' father which a lot of people already had figured out.

Also, what are they going to do with Alverez's body?

Geronimo Jackon song free on iTunes

ABC has released the song "Dharma Lady" by Geronimo Jackson free today on iTunes. That's the album art to the right. You can download the track by clicking the iTunes button below.

Geronimo Jackson - Dharma Lady - Single

The song is pretty groovy and there's a fair chance we will hear it in the next episode "Namaste."

In the album art, you can see some references to the show. The white rabbit and orchids in the eyes. It's an fun little piece. Do you see any other hidden items?

The Orchid disappears, Locke finds the well

The group finds The Orchid station, but just as Juliet says she can't believe that it was actually there, time skips again and it disappears. Locke quickly turns and heads straight for the well the Charlotte mentioned.

Did Locke see the area where the well was or did he instinctively know where it would be? He went straight for it. Presumably, since The Orchid is not there, it would seem that the well predates the Dharma Initiative. Who built it and when?

Problems constructing the Orchid, what's Daniel doing there?!

While Dr. Pierre Chang's is filming the orientation video for The Arrow station, a construction worker named Eric comes in and tells him theirs a problem at The Orchid station. We then see them in the Dharma bus going to The Orchid station which is still being constructed. When they go down into the lower chamber, construction workers have attempted to drill through the rock to where Ben turned the frozen Donkey Wheel. The drills melted as they tried to break through and one of the construction workers can be seen bleeding from his nose much like Desmond and George Minkowski in "The Constant" last season and what happens to Charlotte later.

The construction foreman shows Dr. Chang a sonor image of the wall which shows the frozen donkey wheel inside. I've enhanced the sonor image captures below. Chang tells the foreman not to drill anymore because in the energy is released then "God help us all."

Then comes the kicker. As Chang is leaving Daniel Faraday bumps into him. He stops and looks at the holes in the rock and looks incredibly concerned. Why was Daniel at the construction of The Orchid looking the same as he does in the "present?" His story is quickly becoming one of the bigger mysteries in the show
