The candidates names inside the cave, survivors have the numbers

Inside the cave, Locke tells Sawyer and all over the others are on the island because Jacob wrote his name on the cave walls/ceiling. He says that Jacob had a thing for numbers and each Locke, Reyes, Ford, Jarrah, Shephard and Kwon each correspond with on of the numbers. He says that he doesn't know if Kwon means Sun or Jin.

Locke tells Sawyer that he's sure that Sawyer met Jacob at some point when he was miserable or vulnerable. We saw that this happened in "The Incident" in season 5. Jacob met Sawyer at the funeral for his mother and father (see those screens here). Locke continues saying that Jacob manipulated Sawyer, using him as a puppet and pushing him towards the island. He says that Jacob did all of this because Sawyer and the others on the wall are/were candidates to take over Jacob's role as protector of the island.

Locke tells Saywer he has three choices: 1) He can do nothing and see how everything plays out and his name might get crossed out. 2) He can take the job and become the new Jacob. Locke says that it would be a waste of time because it's just and island and doesn't need Jacob, Sawyer or any of the others to protect it from anything. 3) He and Locke can get the hell off of the island together and never look back.

Sawyer chooses option three, joining team Locke/Smokey, but how much of what Locke told Sawyer was the truth? How much was his opinion, how much was lies and how much was the truth? Clearly, he disagreed with Jacob's views, but that doesn't mean that either one of them were necessarily right. We'll have to wait and see how this all plays out.

Kate's name is conspicuously missing from the wall or at least it is not visible in the scene, so why is she on the island?

Miles finds out Juliet's message for Sawyer, "It worked"

As Sawyer and Miles finish burying Juliet in the jungle, Sawyer reveals his true intentions for asking Miles to stay behind. He forces Miles to use his ability to find out what Juliet was about to say when she died.

It turns out her final thoughts were "It worked." Sawyer seems confused by this, but does this mean that she somehow knew about that time did change somehow, causing the new Oceanic 815 timeline that landed safely? Will we be seeing Juilet again in this timeline? We'll have to wait and see.

Sawyer and Juliet's final moments at the Swan

After Sawyer gets into the Swan wreckage, he finds a barely conscious Juliet. Her state of mind is okay at first as she asks where they are and says that it didn't work because they're still on the island. She tells Sawyer that she hit the bomb so he could go home.

Then, her state of mind starts slip, a bit like when Charlotte was about to die. She says "We can get coffee some time. We can go Dutch." She then asks Sawyer to kiss her and he does. She then says that she has something very important to tell him, but loses consciousness and dies before she can tell him the important thing.

As Sawyer emerges from the wreckage carrying Juliet's body, he looks at Jack and says "You did this."

Was Juliet's mind in another time or timeline when she was approaching death?

Juliet survives the fall and detonates the bomb, Jack and Kate pull Sawyer away from the hole

Back at the Swan Station site, Jack wakes up on the ground in a daze. He stands up and sees Kate trying to pull Sawyer, who is weeping, away from the hole. Jack helps her pull Sawyer away just before a large portion of the tower is pulled down the hole.

The equipment crashes at the bottom of the hole where Juliet is laying on the ground. She wakes up and briefly panics before she starts crying. She turns her head and sees the hydrogen bomb on the ground near her. She picks up a rock and starts hitting the bomb. She is crying as she hits it and says "Come on you son of a bitch." On the eighth hit the screen goes white and a loud explosion can be heard. Then we see the inverted "LOST" title screen, which was the first thing I posted from the finale.

So, with Juliet detonating the bomb, the big question is, what's next? What will happen to our Losties and which ones will survive to make it to their next destination? Will the course of events leading up to the crash of Oceanic 815 be altered or was this, like Miles said, the incident as it originally occurred?

With this post, that does it for season 5 of Lost. If there's any screens you didn't see during this season that you would like to see, let me know and I'll post them for you. Otherwise, things will be pretty quiet here for a while. I'll pop in occasionally to add some things like what goes down at Comic-Con, so check back every once and a while or subscribe to the blog.

See you for the final season. It's going to be BIG.

Chains pull Juliet down the hole, Sawyer can't hold on and she falls

After Phil is speared, a chain is pulled towards the hole and is catches Juliet, pulling her into the hole. She grabs the edge as Kate tries to pull her out with the chain. Juliet falls further into the hole, grabbing onto part of the broken tower. Sawyer runs over and grabs her hand before she slips and says "Where do you think you're going, Blondie?" Juliet is still being pulled down because of the chains around her waist. Kate can't reach Juliet to remove the chains. The equipment above ground is still being pulled down on them. A beam is splitting causing it to pull down even more.

Sawyer says "Don't you leave me." As Juliet starts slipping, she says "I love you James. I love you so much." She falls down the shaft and Sawyer weeps in anguish.

This is definitely one of the most emotional, if not the most emotional moment of the season. The question is, with the events that follow, is there a chance that Sawyer and Juliet will be reunited? We'll have to wait and see.

The Losties open fire on the Swan site, Jack drops the bomb down the hatch

Phil and his team arrive at the Swan Station site and Radzinsky says that they have time to set up a perimeter because there's no sign of "the hostiles" yet. As Phil assigns men to their positions, Pierre tells Radzinsky that they need to be getting people away from the site, not bringing more there.

Jack, who is watching in the distance, sees a water tank and heads for it. Steam is rising from the drill as Pierre watches the temperature and gauss meters hitting the red. Jack sneaks behind the water tank but Phil spots him and opens fire.

Jack manages to take out one of the armed Dharma team up high on the perimeter and scrambles to find cover because he is outnumbered. Suddenly, the a Dharma van speeds towards the site and Kate and Juliet open fire on the Dharma team. They take out a few Dharma folk before Sawyer and Miles emerge, guns blazing too. They give Jack the cover he needs to move closer to the drill.

Sawyer manages to sneak around a hit Radzinsky from behind and grabs Phil and holds a gun to his head. Pierre grabs Radzinsky's gun as Phil tells everyone else to drop their guns. Sawyer tells Jack to come out and then says "Hurry up and do your business." Sawyer then tells Pierre to turn the drill off. He tries to shut it down but he says it won't because something is pulling the drill down. Radzinsky says "We hit the pocket."

Jack steps up to the hole and pulls the bomb from his bag. Jack looks at Kate who has tears in her eyes, but she nods "yes" to him. Jack smiles slightly. Sawyer lets Phil go and then he and Juliet share sad smiles.

Jack drops the bomb down the hole. Everyone braces for the explosion, but nothing happens. Everyone looks confused and Jack stares down the hole.

There are so many things to capture in this scene, it was too big for one post. The next post will feature everything that happened after the bomb did not explode.
