Pierre Chang aka Marvin Candle in his home on the island

In the first scene of season 5, we see Dr. Pierre Chang (aka Marvin Candle, Edgar Halliwax and Mark Wickmund) for the first time outside of the confines of a Dharma video. He wakes at the numerically significant time of 8:15. We see his wife, baby and elements of his home. He puts a record on in a few shots that is very similar to Desmond's reveal in season 2. Chang's record starts skipping which foreshadows some of Daniel Faraday's later info on the island's time shifts. The song by the way was Willie Nelson's "Shotgun Willie" from his 1973 album of the same name.

He makes his way through the barracks (aka New Otherton) to film a video for Dharma station 2, "The Arrow." This station is where we saw the Tailsection folks hiding out in season 2. Apparently, the station's purpose was to "develop defensive strategies and gather intelligence on the island's hostile, indigenous population."

During the filming we see a few Dharma staffers who are producing the video. The filming is interrupted by another Dharma worker. More on that in the next post.
