Ben puts on the Dharma Dharka we first saw him wearing in the desert in "The Shape of Things To Come" when he arrived in the Sahara. Ben tells Locke that he's "going somewhere cold" and that Locke should go two miles east of the Orchid find Richard and the other others/natives. They'll be waiting Locke him to lead them. Ben says that Jacob wants him to suffer the consequences of moving the island because whoever does, can't come back.
In a moving moment (thanks to the brilliant acting of Michael Emerson), Ben apologizes to Locke saying "I'm sorry I made your life so miserable." Ben then tells Locke "you'll find your way John, you always do."
