Here we see Aaron (and his room) in the future and he calls Kate mom. What happened to Claire and why did Kate take Aaron?

Anonymous said...: Jack created the lie that Kate was Aaron's mother. Why? I don't know. I had assumed he did it so that Kate would have an excuse to avoid prison. But I don't know.

Kate, Sayid, Sun and Hurley all agreed to abide by Jack's lie. When the Oceanic Six arrived in the States, Kate claimed that Aaron was her son, whom she had given birth on the island.

Sometime after their return to the States, Jack and his mother held a funeral for Christian Shephard. After the service, an Australian woman introduced herself as Claire's mother - Carole. Carole is no longer in a coma. Carole told Jack that she had an affair with Christian and that Claire was his daughter. Kate was standing close by, holding Aaron. Carole paused a few seconds to admire Aaron, not realizing that she had seen her grandson.

In other words, Kate is now living a lie by posing as Aaron's birth mother. This lie had been created by Jack and is being supported by the silence of Sayid, Sun and Hurley.; October 3, 2008 at 1:49 PM
