The smoke monster kills Seamus, Jack lets the group out of Hydra cage

As Sawyer and Kate are inside the cages, Sawyer says that it feels like they're going in circles since they're back in there, but this time the gun was pointed at Kate's head.

Close by, Jin and Sun sit and Jin learns that his little girl Ji Yeon is with Sun's mother. He tells her that he saw pictures of her and she is beautiful. Sun then tells him that she has his wedding ring and then puts it back on his hand.

Suddenly, the power goes out killing the lights and the pylons. One guy from Widmore's group says that somebody killed the power and Seamus tells him to get a team to the generator. Then, the signature sounds of the smoke monster can be heard. Hurley says that now they're all going to die.

The smoke monster emerges from the jungle, and as it tends to be the case, Widmore's team attempts to shoot at it. It grabs Seamus and slams him against the cage which kills him. The monster quickly retreats back into the jungle, but can still be heard, presumably taking care of the other guys that were with Seamus.

Kate sees the keys on Seamus' belt and tries to grab them, but her arms are not quite long enough. Frank attempts to kick the cage door open with no luck.

As Kate is still reaching for the keys, suddenly a hand grabs them. We see Jack has come to let them out of the cage. Jack says I'm with him, nodding in the direction of the monster. Everyone then runs away.

Sawyer & his group are locked in the Hydra cages

At the Hydra Station, Widmore's team are setting up the portable sonic fence pylons next to the cages as Seamus and the others march Sawyer's group to them. When Seamus order Sawyer into the cage, he refuses to go back in there. Sawyer takes Seamus' gun and turns the tables, but Charles Widmore shows up and fires a gun into the air, then points it at Kate (a familiar scenario resembling season 3).

Widmore informs Sawyer of something he already knows. Widmore says that he has a list of names including Ford, the Knows and Reyes, but not Austen. Sawyer gives the gun back to Seamus, who gives him a knock in the gut with said gun (flashes of Pickett).

As the group gets in the cage, Widmore tells him that they're putting him there for their own good. Widmore asks one of his men if the sonic fence is live yet and the guy says it will be another hour. Widmore says that they don't have an hour because "he's coming," he being Locke.

So how exactly does Widmore seem to have Jacob's list? While he seems very afraid of Locke, it's still unclear exactly what his motives are.

Desmond is now eager to help in original timeline, Sayid kills two men & takes him

When Desmond wakes back up in the original timeline, alive and well, Seamus and Zoe are both shocked, but Charles Widmore doesn't seem surprised at all. A nurse/medic starts to check his condition, but he waves her off, saying he's fine and asking Widmore to help him up.

Widmore tells Desmond he was only unconscious for a few seconds. He then starts to apologize, for putting Desmond through the test, but Desmond stops him, saying it's okay because he understands now. Widmore seems confused, but Desmond seems very zen and asks, "When do we start?"

Zoe and two other men start to walk Desmond through the Hydra Station grounds. She asks him what happened to make him go from beating Widmore about 20 minutes ago to being Mr. Cooperative. He says a lot can happen in 20 minutes. She says that the machine fried his brain. Suddenly, Sayid appears and kills the two other men. He points a gun a Zoe, but tells her to run. Sayid tells Desmond that Widmore's team are dangerous and they need to go. Desmond, Mr. Cooperative, says "lead the way" and follows Sayid.

So what exactly does Desmond now know in this timeline that makes him so zen? Does he know exactly what he needs to do, or is he just going with the flow?

Simmons is charred in the electromagnetic device, Widmore doesn't care

After Desmond attacks Widmore, he insists that Zoe start a test, even though she says it's not ready. Jin follows her to the Hydra Station's generator room, passing a makeshift wooden box connected to some heavy duty cables.

Once they're in the generator room, Seamus and many others panic as they prepare to set up the test a day ahead of schedule. Seamus says they need to get a functioning E.M. field. When the generator is turned on, it fails. Seamus sends a man named Simmons outside to the box to check the contacts on the solenoids.

Seamus turns to a white rabbit in a cage that is named Angstrom and tells it that it will be going into the box next. Anders Jonas Ångström was a Swedish physicist who studied terrestial magnetism, light and optical phenomena.

One of the technicians discovers it's a bad breaker and throws the switch as Simmons is inside the box examining the coils. The solenoids emit a bright light and Simmons is tossed across the box. The cameras go out and then the system is powered down. when Jin, Seamus and Zoe arrive at the box, they see the charred remains of Simmons' body.

Charles Widmore comes to the box and is unfazed by Simmons' body. Desmond is brought to the entrance and looks terrified of what could be coming next.

Desmond is revealed to be the package, Sayid sees him from water

At Locke's camp, Sawyer reveals to Kate that he is worried because he's depending on the idea that Charles Widmore is going to kill Locke. At that moment Locke strolls back into camp. He questions where Jin and Sayid are, and Locke indicates that Sayid is still on Hydra Island to discover what Widmore is hiding on the submarine.

We then see Sayid emerge from the water not too far from where the submarine is docked. Zoe and Seamus can be seen removing a drugged-up Desmond from the submarine. They drop him on the dock where Desmond comes face-to-face with Sayid. Desmond looks confused and disoriented as Zoe and Seamus pick him up and take him towards land.

Locke & Widmore face off at the sonic fence on Hydra Island

Locke reaches Hydra Island alone in a canoe and immediately sees the portable sonic fence set up all the way down the beach. Seamus and other armed members of Widmore's group take shots and Locke and tell him not to move. Locke says that he comes in peace.

They walk up the beach towards the Ajira plane with Locke staying on the ocean side of the fence. Charles Widmore emerges and Locke knows who he is. Widmore reveals that he knows that Locke is obviously not really Locke. He says other than that, all he knows is "myth, ghost stories, and jungle noises." Locke points out that Widmore knows more that he's letting on since he knew to put up the sonic fence pylons.

Widmore denies that he took Jin, causing Locke to repeat Widmore's words from season 5. Locke says "A wise man once said that war was coming to this island, I think it just got here."

So how much does Widmore actually know about the black smoke/Man in Black/Locke? Clearly he knows more than he's letting on, but how much is that? Something tells me this war is going to have a few casualties.

Widmore's team knocks out the camp, takes Jin + Sayid can't feel anything

Locke tells Sayid that he's leaving the camp to run and errand and he wants a Sayid to keep an eye on things. Sayid reveals that he can't feel anger, happiness, pain or anything else anymore. Locke says it's probably for the best considering what's coming. What exactly is coming?

Once Locke leaves, Jin sees his opportunity to make a break for it to try to find Sun. Sawyer tries to stop him, but during their conversation, the camp is suddenly attacked by tranquilizer darts which knocks out everyone. Widmore's team appears and looks through the people. Zoe and Seamus find Jin, who is the who they are looking for and they take him.

Widmore's team setting up portable sonic fence, Sawyer taken to submarine

As Sawyer is being marched across Hyrda island by Seamus, Zoe and the others, they pass another group of people who appear to be setting up a portable version of the sonic fence that surrounds the barracks (or New Otherton as Sawyer calls it). Sawyer stays silent during the trek.

As they reach the dock where a submarine is being guarded by two armed men, Sawyer looks a bit stunned. Once they reach the sub, Zoe tells Sawyer to go inside because "he" (Charles Widmore) is waiting for him. Sawyer obliges and climbs in.

So is Widmore's team trying to keep the smoke monster (Locke) away from the sub? Is he worried that Locke may actually try to leave via the sub? It's certainly an interesting short bit of info.

Sawyer figures out Zoe is lying, is ambushed by her people

Zoe tells Sawyer that she was on the Ajira flight and was off gathering wood when she heard screaming. She says that she came back and all of the other passengers were dead. Sawyer says that he'll take her back with him to the main island.

As they walk towards the canoe, Zoe asks a few too many questions about the people on the main island and whether they have guns. He's careful not too answer to specifically until she asks about guns, when he says they have plenty of those. She takes too long to answer questions like where she was flying and what she was going to Guam for.

Sawyer pulls a gun on her, but she whistles and several armed men, including a guy who seems like a leader named Seamus, emerge from the tree line. Sawyer gives up without a fight and says "take me to your leader."

So who are these people that we learn a little later work for Charles Widmore? Do they have any history with the island, or are they more hired guns like on the freighter? One thing is certain though. Either Zoe is supposed to be a really bad liar or the actress Sheila Kelley is really bad. I'd like to think it is the first option.
