Sayid shoots Erik, Kate heads back to the barracks

In the jungle, Jack, Kate, Richard, Eloise and Erik stop at a creek. Eloise asks Jack and Kate it they know how to swim and Kate asks why don't the just go around the creek. Eloise tells her that they'll have to swim under the bomb to get to the tunnels.

Kate has had enough and decides to go back to the barracks to find the others. Jack tells her that she can't go back because the Dharma folk tried to kill them. Kate tries to walk away but Erik aims his gun at her. Eloise says that they generally don't tell secrets to people and then let them "saunter off." Kate walks away anyway and Jack says to let her leave. A shot is heard and Kate freezes in her tracks and checks to see if she's been shot. A second shot rings out and hits Erik. Sayid stands from behind some plants holding a gun on Richard and Eloise.

After the commercial break, Richard is checking Erik for a pulse and then asks Eloise what's going on because they just shot one of their people and she acts like it doesn't matter. Eloise says that if they are right about what they're about to do, it won't matter. Richard asks "And what are they about to do?" Eloise just looks at him.

Not far away from Richard and Eloise, Jack has explained what he's trying to do to Sayid. Sayid proudly points out that he has already changed things because he killed Benjamin Linus. Kate tells him that he didn't kill him and that she and Sawyer took him to the others to save him. Sayid asks her why she did that. Kate says "Since when did shooting kids and blowing up hydrogen bombs become okay?" Jack then repeats his new mantra that they came back to the island to change things. Kate says that if he's wrong, everyone on the island will die. Jack confidently says "I'm not wrong, Kate. This is it. This is why we're here. This is our destiny." Kate says "Do you know who you sound like? Because he was crazy too, Jack. You said so yourself." Jack says "Well, maybe I was wrong." Kate says that she's going to go find the rest of their people in hopes that they can help her stop Jack.

Jack has quickly gone this season from not giving a damn to being very certain of his destiny. He's starting to seem like his old, cocky self who is now fighting on the side of destiny. Eloise is going along with all of this very blindly which makes me wonder if she's seen something in the future to make her believe this is the right path.

Jack tells Eloise that he thinks they can change what happened, Kate isn't happy about it

Erik the other throws Kate on the ground in Eloise's tent and then gets a punch in the face when he tells Erik to take it easy on her. Erik tells them not to talk, but they do anyway. Kate asks Jack what he meant earlier when he said that they needed to put things back the way they were supposed to be. Jack says that if they can do what Daniel said, Oceanic 815 never crashes and all of the people that have died since they got to the island would still be alive. Kate asks "And what about us? We just... go on living our life because we've never met?" Jack says that all of the misery they've experienced would be wiped clean. Kate says "It was not all misery" and Jack replies "Enough of it was." Kate has tears in her eyes at this point.

Eloise walks in and asks what Daniel needed the bomb for. Jack says "I don't think you'd believe me if I did." Eloise tells Jack that when she was 17 years old, she took Daniel to the bomb where he told her if they buried it, things would be okay. She says that Daniel told her he was from the future and then disappeared before her eyes. Before Daniel died, he told her that she was his son. She says that if he explains things to her that she will believe him.

She then pulls out Daniel's journal and asks "How is this my handwriting if I don't remember writing it?" Jack says "Because you haven't written it yet." Jack tells Eloise that he thinks that if they can it all back and Daniel will not be shot. He says that if they do what is in that journal, none of this will have happened. Eloise turns to Kate and asks "Does he know what he's talking about?" Kate says "He thinks he does."

Eloise says that she'll take them to the bomb, but they buried it over 20 years ago and now there's a village over it. The Dharma barracks were built over where Jughead is buried. Eloise says it should be simple since they have been passing themselves off as members, but Jack says that it'll be more complicated than that.

Kate seems to be leaving out here that if Oceanic 815 doesn't crash, she'd be in jail for killing Wayne. I do believe that her emotions about the island experiences are real though. Jack is determined to change things though and is willing to sacrifice knowing Kate to have never experienced the island. Something tells me that things won't work out exactly how Jack wants them to though.

Eloise looks through Daniel's journal, finds her note to him

Eloise is sitting next to Daniel's body flipping through his journal. There area a bunch of equations in there with one marked "Check out these theories!!! Might be onto something." Eloise comes to the first page where she wrote Daniel the note in his journal, only the younger Eloise hasn't actually written it yet.

Charles Widmore comes into the camp with Jack and Kate and asks what happened with Daniel. Richard tells her the situation and then asks where he found Jack and Kate. Widmore says the were "Crouched in the bushes like rats." Eloise asks Jack and Kate if they came here with Daniel and Jack says yes. Eloise tells the other others to put them in her tent. One of the others seen in the 12th shot is Erik, a recurring other.

Widmore akss Eloise why the Dharma Initiative seems to have declared war on them. Eloise says that these people are not part of the Dharma Initiative. Widmore asks "Then where the hell are they from?"

Kate seems pissed that Jack told Eloise that they came there with Daniel. She doesn't seem to like the idea of changing the events that have already happened.

Richard Alpert takes Ben to the temple to be healed

As Sawyer and Kat with Ben are being marched through the jungle, Richard Alpert appears. Sawyer asks him "Where the hell'd you come from" and Richard just brushes it off. Richard looks a Ben and asks "Is that Benjamin Linus?" Sawyer replies "You two know each other?" Richard asks what happened and Kate tells him that he was shot. Kate asks Richard to save Ben's life and she asks "Can you?" Richard says that if he takes Ben, he'll never be the same again. Kate asks him what he means and Richard says that he'll forget this ever happened and his innocence will be gone. He adds "He will always be one of us." He asks "Do you still want me to take him?" and Kate says yes. Richard takes Ben and then Erik steps up and tells him that "you shouldn't do this without talking to Ellie and if Charles finds out..." Richard interrupts and says "Let them find out. I don't answer to either of them." he then walks off with Ben into the jungle.

Richard carries Ben all the way to the temple where he backs in through a doorway.

So what happens to Ben in the temple? How is he healed? Why does he forget what happened and lose his innocence? How exactly does what's in the temple change him?

Kate tells Sawyer about Clementine, the others ambush them

Kate and Sawyer are walking through the jungle and Sawyer is carrying Ben. When Kate asks about Ben letting Sayid out, Sawyer says that a kid will do almost anything if he's pissed off enough at his folks. Kate asks if that's why he wanted her to take car of his daughter Clementine. Sawyer asks what she's like and Kate says that she's beautiful and looks just like Sawyer when she smiles. Kate continues saying that Clementine is growing up fast and already as a little attitude. Kate then tells Sawyer that Cassidy said he jumped from the chopper because he was afraid of what would happen if he didn't. Sawyer tells Kate that they wouldn't have worked out and that he was no more fit to be her boyfriend than he is to be Clementine's father. When Kate says that Sawyer seems to be doing alright with Juliet, he says that he's done a lot of growing up in the past three years.

At that moment, they are captured by the others led by a guy named Erik. Erik tells them that they're violating the truce and Sawyer tells him that Ben has been shot which is both of their problems. Sawyer says unless they want to go to war, then he needs to take them to Richard Alpert.

So will this conversation mark the end of the Sawyer/Kate relationship? It's doubtful, but who knows.
